Monica Mura (Italy 1979). Interdisciplinary artist, performer and artivist. Dottoressa magistrale in D.A.M.S. UNITO with Speciality in Multimedia Language. She has been selected in calls between Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Dubai, Ecuador, Argentina and Costa Rica receiving recognitions, awards, scholarships and residences. She has carried out her actions and has exhibited her works in key spaces of contemporary art and in prestigious institutions such as Museo Thyssen Bornemisza, ARCO, JUSTMAD, Sala Alcalá 31, Cáceres Abierto, Vostell Malpartida. Her work is present in public and private collections: CGA, Museo Lugo, MAC Florencio de La Fuente, Museo de Historia Natural USC, Alterarte UVigo, IFIC Valencia, Spain, MARATÈ Isili, Italy.

The Concept and Description of the Work關於參展作品的創作動機與設計理念

Between freedom and prohibition "Due to the pandemic, the World Health Organization recommended the use of masks as personal protective equipment. After the first state of alarm, the authorities of many countries adopted regulations that require the use of this health object in public spaces as a mandatory hygiene measure. The partial concealment of the face by a large part of the world's population motivated by the state of health alert generated many debates not exempt from political and ideological nuances. The state of epidemiological emergency due to COVID-19, in fact put into focus all the laws known as "anti-masks" that seek to prevent the concealment of individuals' faces through legislative or criminal initiatives. At this historical moment, the world economy becomes a battlefield of interests and passions that feed on stereotypes, control and discrimination in the name of security, freedom, health, gender and religion.
