We are third-year Art Education students from Silpakorn University who are passionate about transforming plastic waste into meaningful creative artworks. Our project demonstrates that discarded plastic is far more than trash; it is a material with potential for reinvention, artistic expression, and renewed value. By recycling plastic into a variety of art forms, we aim to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage more sustainable practices within the art community. Through our creative process, we show how waste can become beauty, inspiring viewers to reconsider the artistic possibilities found in everyday materials in everyday life and beyond for future generations.

This garment was created from our team’s awareness of the global plastic waste crisis, which severely affects both marine and terrestrial ecosystems and contributes to environmental issues such as global warming from plastic incineration. We aim to reclaim and add value to discarded plastics—materials often overlooked and treated as worthless—by transforming them through a creative design process. Inspired by the form of the Dok Phut flower, commonly used in Thailand to craft garlands for welcoming guests, the piece symbolizes love, goodwill, and connection. Through this work, we aspire to highlight Thailand’s soft power and demonstrate how thoughtful design can turn waste into meaningful contemporary art.
