Perspectives on Tradition and Future, Sustainability and Fashion, and Life.

As a heritage bearer of traditional embroidery techniques, I see sustainability as essential in preserving our craft. By using eco-friendly materials and natural dyes, we honor our ancestors' wisdom while protecting the environment. Sustainable practices ensure that our rich cultural heritage can be passed down to future generations, blending timeless artistry with modern ecological awareness. This balance between tradition and innovation is key to the enduring relevance of our craft.

The Concept and Description of the Work

Aixa design is born as part of a group project named Up-Cycled Tales conceived by Rufa students as a journey trough manipulating of second hand garments and fabrics in an up-cycled logic and inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) of the UN 20230 Agenda. During the designing process the designers have followed a transdisciplinary approach realizingtheir creations trough up-cycling method and passing behind the camera to testimony the result of their design and its sustainable content. In particular Aiza’s work is a a sweater made out of 3 . The main idea of the project, inspired to SDGs number 5 about gender equality and SDGs no 10 aboutreducing inequalities, is to show that all people are different but despite our differences we must stick together. From a workmanship point of view the sweaters plays on the conjunction of the 3 sweaters different by styles fabric, colour and texture, the stitches made by hand symbolize the point of conjuncture between differences as well as the patchwork hand palm on the back.
