荔枝 Lychee | 在地美食

台中縣素有水果縣份之稱,其中屬重要經濟果樹的荔枝,栽培面積就廣達二千二百公頃,霧峰、大里、太平、潭子、豐原、神岡等鄉鎮市為主要栽培鄉鎮,栽種品種則包括黑葉、桂味、玉荷包及糯米滋等;每年五月底至七月底,為荔枝產期,多肉、多汁、小核,酸甜適中,堪稱荔枝中的極品。
Taichung County has been called the “fruits county” of Taiwan. Among other fruits, lychee is considered to be of great economic importance and the cultivating area reaches 2,200 acres. Lychee is mainly cultivated in Wufeng, Dali, Taiping, Tanzi, Fengyuan, and Shengang; and the cultivars include black-leaf, sweet-olive, Litchi chinensis Sonn, and Nuomici. The fleshy fruits which grow during the end of May through the end of July are the best. The fruits is fleshy and juicy with small seeds, and it tastes sour and sweet.
